You have to ship the tv in to Samsung. When I purchased my Samsung TV in October 2007, they offered a 5-year IN HOME date of purchase warranty. I had many discussions with both Samsung and their warranty company, resulting in me filing complaints with BBB and the Consumer Watchdog, and threatening to have false advertising charges filed with their state Attorney General. When the television died earlier this month, I discovered that the extended warranty is invalid for the first year because of the 1-year manufacturer's warranty. In other words, they don't provide in-home service. The warranty company has admitted the error and has promised to send me a new tv, but I'll believe it when it's here and working. I had to go right to the top executive of the company because their underlings originally said they would send someone to service the tv and then backed out.
But I wanted to try out a service warranty, and I usually buy them from Circuit City and Best Buy anyway
I tend lean against buying the extended service plans, but given the size of this purchase and cost savings at Amazon versus the retail stores, made a go of it this time. Hope I didn't miss anything in the fine print.
This warranty adds a substantial amount to the price of a TV. When one adds in the sales tax (if applicable) plus any delivery and set up costs etc., this makes that wonderful sale price you received not so much of a bargain after all :(It seems that Samsung has improved their service from what it was about 2 years ago. I had read a lot of complaints about repairs taking a long time. Looks like Samsung has gotten its act together, which is only right considering the cost of a warranty.
you can hope nothing goes wrong with your big purchase but when it does youll be glad you spent the dough on this
